#13 Replacing The Fuel Filter On A Davco 382 Fuel Water Separator
An overview of how to replace the fuel filter on a Davco fuel water separator. It's not a difficult job, and it doesn't take anywhere near as long as this video suggests.
This was lengthy to detail the procedure.

How do change the oil filter???? 🤔
You don't. There isn't one.
You give up on UA-cam?
Do you miss it?
How many miles can you go before you have to change
I dont know what Volvo recommends, but I change the fuel filters every 15,000 miles
Thank you! My Carrier Pro alternator belt has snapped off. I'm about to go fix it after watching your video
Good luck! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Hand pump makes it so much easier.
It would if I had one LOL.
FYI. Alternator has changed. As of a few months ago the manufacturer for their alternator went out of business. Carrier has a new manufacturer for an alternator, but Carrier is selling, not offering, a kit for the new alternator. The new kit is for mounting, hardware and fan belt. It looks like the alternator went down in price $287, but the kit is $50.
Bro, how you connect new alternator? I buy new, and install kit, but its different connectors
If they changed the alternator design and the plug is different, I would assume there is either a replacement connector you need to get, or a jumper harness. You can try to Google it, or just call Carrier and ask them.
@@sberger6604 Check the software upgrade. My starter was not disengaging because the APU needed a software upgrade (($175)) - BTW did you know if you hold down on the Start Button for a few seconds, but count to 5; In other words, hold the Start Button and start counting, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" the APU starts around 2,3, but don't release-continue counting and release around 5.. This starting procedure is for Carrier Mechanics to have control of the starter. I use this starting procedure if I need a quick start, but don't use it all time.
How much oil did you put in? A qt?
To be honest, I don't remember what the fill capacity is. But I know it was no more than 1 quart
Thanks for the quick response, I found 16 oz online somewhere. I found 10w-30 and 10w-40 in a couple different places too. I need to look up the other specs for gear oil etc.
I have a question on what's your Apu serial model# ?. I'm trying to find a cheaper alternator option for purchase different from the Carrier brand expensive one. I'm on the road right now so I can order it and it will arrive by the time I get home. Mine is PC6022
I'm sorry man...I just saw this comment. I have the updated Carrier. Mine is the Comfort Pro 200INT. It doesn't have that link belt for the generator anymore. It has an automotive style serpentine belt.
@sberger6604 Great. I have the same one, mine is a 2019 truck. The serpentine belt with a tensioner like a regular truck engine design. Thank God they came up with this new design, the old links type sucks loosing tension having to remove links every few months. This other one is long lasting not needing to be removed or retensioned. I could find an OEM one from an Ebay seller for $175 instead of paying $285 with Carrier. Your video helped me with picking the right one.
Excelente video, me sirve para reparar el que yo tengo en uso, gracias desde Guatemala
Glad the info was useful to you!
Thank you! My son and I are getting it ready spring and was about to give up lol. Keep up the videos!
I'm glad the info was useful.
Aww this video was done back in the Trump years before Biden messed everything up
What kind of oil does it take
I use 10W30 synthetic in mine, but that's just my preference.
Great video. Changing alternator belt today plus generator capacitor. I need to cut power to APU so I don't get zapped. Will Unplugging 12 pin APU Control Unit cut 100% of power or do I need to remove positive battery cable? Thanks again!
Unplugging the connector will keep it from starting, but if you want everything dead you'll need to disconnect the battery cable like you thought. Sorry this is a late reply to your question. I just parked for the night! Good luck!
Much appreciated!
great info!! been looking for information about the plug melting...this was great!
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for the vid, be safe out there
Thank you for checking it out!
Good to know you cleaned it with wool and added sealing tape to do it right.
Appreciate it! My automotive background is a big reason why I like to do things the right way. Don't wanna have to do it twice. Thanks for watching!
I just smacked it a couple times and it started working lol. It only gives me issues about 5% of the time. Some days it just doesn’t want to work
I just didn't want to get caught in a situation where I was stuck in a rain storm with a window that wouldn't work. Thanks for watching!
Part number ?
I have no idea off hand. You'd have to call Carrier.
👍😎👍 Hope all is well. Merry Christmas!
Hey brother...it's been a while! I apologize for the late reply. I hope you had a good holiday season and everything is good with you also!
Gracias 🙏

Make sure you oil the computer fan with high temperature machine oil. It will make last a lot longer.
What was your unit doing to let you know your belt was the problem?
There was no issue. I replaced it for maintenance.
Thanks 🙏
Glad I could help
What oil type you use brother?
If I remember correctly, it was 5w30 synthetic. I may be wrong on the weight, but it was definitely synthetic.
Oh my mistake. This was for my APU. I apologize. I was thinking of a video I did for my go kart. In the APU I used 10W30 Shell Rotella Synthetic Blend. Sorry about that.
My first one lasted three years. Just bought a new one for 49.99 on sale.
Good deal!
Gracias Thank you very much!!

I have known Jeff for years. He is a friend of mine. He helped me get started way back in my early days of being an owner operator.
Thanks.
Can you use a fram oil filter if so what is the part number?
You would have to take the Carrier part number and check with an auto parts store to have them cross reference it with Fram. If they make a filter you could use it. I know WIX makes a filter. I just prefer OEM stuff.
Thanks. You are the only person who mentions these drain holes. With your advice I found them on my reefer.
Glad it was informative for ya! Thanks for watching!

You're welcome! Glad it was helpful to you.
What oil do I need to use for this 208r mudhead go kart?
I believe there is a recommendation chart in the manual. I used 5W30 full synthetic for mine. It was just my preference.
